Between 2000 and 2006, he completed a residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care, as well as a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Pain Medicine. His tenure at the University of Pennsylvania also included serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Assistant Director of Acute Pain Services, and Assistant Director of the Interventional Pain and Spine Fellowship Program. During this period, he honed his leadership skills and was elected to the Penn Senate Faculty Executive Committee and the University Council. His contributions in these roles included advising senior university leadership on faculty intellectual property ownership, environmental initiatives on campus, and navigating the financial complexities of the 2008 economic crisis.
In 2014, Dr. Slevin co-founded North American Spine and Pain, a multi-specialty healthcare practice that has grown to employ over 120 staff members across three states. The practice sees more than 150,000 patients annually. It offers specialized care in areas such as degenerative and herniated discs, extremity pain, nerve injuries, osteoarthritis, sciatica, spinal stenosis, sports-related trauma, sprains, strains, and tendinitis. Under his leadership, North American Spine and Pain has become a gold standard for patient care in Pennsylvania and its neighboring regions.
